Collection: New York City
Street photography catches the glance, the gesture, the moment between moments — the encounters on sidewalks, subway platforms, and stoops.
Some of these prints came from stopping, introducing myself, and spending time with the person in front of the lens. Others arrived in a split second because the moment was simply there and wouldn't wait. The process lives on both sides of that spectrum, and the best work comes from honouring whichever one the scene demands.
You'll find tattooed strangers, skateboarders mid-trick, subway mice going about their business, and quiet portraits born from real conversation. Each print says something lasting about the people and places that make a city feel alive.

About the series
The majority of the images in this series are printed on brushed aluminum. I wanted an urban industrial feel with a process that gave historical nods to tintype photography where images were exposed on metal plates. This modern version prints images on brushed aluminum, allowing the texture of the metal to come through, especially in the bright areas. It's a bold look that is then softened by the warm wood floater frame. It is a study in contrasts, not unlike NYC which can appear harsh on the surface but has great warmth as well.
A few NY portraits get a different treatment with Ilford photo papers, anti-glare glazing, passe-partouts and frames that give a more traditional look for photo enthusiasts like myself.
