Forget the can of whoop ass. At Occupy Wall Street, they served it in a cup.
A repurposed takeout coffee cup swings gently from a park tree, its original purpose long retired. Now it carries a different order — a grande-sized message for anyone walking past on their way to work, to the subway, to wherever it is people go when they've decided not to stop and look.
It's witty. It's resourceful. It's protest made from whatever's at hand — which, in New York City, is almost always a coffee cup. The movement didn't need a megaphone. Sometimes a familiar object, rewritten, does the job better.
Part of the OWS on Wood series — street photography from the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York City, printed directly on birch wood. The grain of the wood runs through the image like the grain of the city: layered, lived-in, impossible to fake.
Here's what you're getting: Direct Print on Birch Wood
- The Wood Becomes Part of the Art: We use a special printing process that allows the natural wood grain of the single Birch layer to show through. This gives your image a unique, rustic texture that you can actually see and feel.
- Truly One-of-a-Kind: Because no two pieces of wood are the same, each print is unique. The natural patterns of the birch make your art feel alive and personal.
- Built to Last: These prints use layered wood to ensure they stay perfectly flat and durable for years to come.
- Ready to Hang: No framing required. Each print comes with built-in slots on the back, so you can mount it flush against your wall the moment it arrives.
