Written in the City
On my first visit to Berlin, I was crossing the scenic Oberbaum Bridge when I happened to look down at my hands on the railing. Someone had written five words onto the metal: Und Berlin Liebt Dich Immernoch.
And Berlin still loves you.
There's something quietly radical about that kind of graffiti — not a tag, not a slogan, but a declaration. A city speaking back. Berlin has a long history of writing on its surfaces, of turning walls and bridges and train cars into conversation. This felt like part of that tradition: anonymous, tender, and completely sincere.
I photographed it because I didn't want to forget it. And because it said something true — about the city, about the way places hold feeling, and about what it means to arrive somewhere and feel, unexpectedly, welcomed.
Ich auch. Me too.
