Loud, Up Close, and Uncompromising

Since the 1970s, SO36 has been the beating, distorted heart of Berlin's alternative and punk scene. Named after the old postal code for Kreuzberg, the club sits a short walk from Coretex Records — a neighborhood that has always known what it is and refused to apologize for it.

This photograph was made inside the venue during a live set. Up close, the band fills the frame the way they fill the room: completely. There's no distance here, no separation between performer and audience, no polished remove. Just sound made visible.

SO36 nearly didn't survive. As gentrification reshaped Kreuzberg, newly arrived neighbors pushed back against the noise — against the very thing that made the neighborhood worth arriving to. The club fought back, and its history, its community, and its punk ethic won. It's still there. Still loud.

Print Specifications

  • Authentic Ilford B/W Matte Paper - Unlike standard inkjet prints, this light-sensitive silver halide paper offers deep, velvet blacks and a neutral tonal range.
  • A custom Dark Grey Passe-Partout. By choosing a dark grey over a traditional white mat, we create a seamless transition from the shadows of your photo to the frame, adding an incredible sense of cinematic depth.
  • Matte acrylic glass - A protective, but glare-resistant glazing, allowing greater freedom where you place your artwork.
  • Hamburg profile frame (0.8"). A minimalist, wood-based frame finished in a dark gray. Its slim profile ensures the focus stays entirely on the artwork, while the matte finish eliminates distracting reflections.
