The Guy Fawkes mask hangs loosely from a protester's belt. Two bold words on the mask: Wake Up.
The mask has traveled a long way to get here. From a 17th-century English conspirator, to the face of a fictional anarchist in a dystopian graphic novel, to a mass-produced symbol of resistance worn on streets from London to Cairo to lower Manhattan. By the time it arrived at Zuccotti Park, it meant something new again: not one man's plot, but a collective refusal to sleepwalk through a system rigged against them.
The mask is at rest. The message is not. Vigilance, it turns out, is not reserved for the 5th of November.
Part of the OWS on Wood series — street photography from the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York City, printed directly on birch wood. Each print carries its own grain, its own texture — as individual as the people who wore the mask.
Here's what you're getting: Direct Print on Birch Wood
- The Wood Becomes Part of the Art: We use a special printing process that allows the natural wood grain of the single Birch layer to show through. This gives your image a unique, rustic texture that you can actually see and feel.
- Truly One-of-a-Kind: Because no two pieces of wood are the same, each print is unique. The natural patterns of the birch make your art feel alive and personal.
- Built to Last: These prints use layered wood to ensure they stay perfectly flat and durable for years to come.
- Ready to Hang: No framing required. Each print comes with built-in slots on the back, so you can mount it flush against your wall the moment it arrives.
